Introduce of the Hatch cover
The main function of the hatch cover is to ensure that waves and rain do not penetrate the cargo hold, and some hatch covers also bear the weight of the cargo on the deck.
The former is used to hold bulk dry cargo, materials or vehicles, and is also called cargo hatch; it is used to hold cargo tanks, refrigerated cargo, etc., as well as personnel access hatches and manholes. According to the hatch cover material and type, there are a whole piece of wood or metal hatch cover, a wooden assembled hatch cover, a spelling hatch cover composed of a box-shaped or corrugated profile plate made of metal or glass fiber reinforced plastic, etc. Small hatch covers are generally opened and closed manually, and large hatch covers must be opened and closed by electric or hydraulically driven machinery. According to the transmission method, it can be divided into rolling hatch covers, rolling type includes vertical type, oblique type, sleeve type, rolling type includes side shifting type, laminated type, rolling type, hinge type includes hinge type, folding type, etc. According to the tightness, there are watertight, oiltight, airtight and non-tight hatch covers. According to different tightness requirements, the hatch cover and adjacent parts are respectively composed of strips, fillers, gaskets, and compactors Sealed compartment device or sealing device.
According to the size of the hatch, it is divided into a large hatch and a small hatch. The former is used to hold bulk cargoes, materials or vehicles, and is also called cargo hatch; the latter is used to hold cargo tanks, refrigerated cargoes, etc., as well as personnel exit hatches and manholes.

According to the tightness, there are watertight, oiltight, airtight, and non-tight hatch covers. According to different tightness requirements, the hatch cover and the adjacent parts are equipped with beading, packing, gaskets, compactors, etc. Composed of tank closures or seals.
There is also a method of dividing according to tightness: weathertight, oiltight, and non-watertight.
① Weathertight Cargo Hatch Cover
Cargo hatches fitted on the freeboard deck are all steel weathertight hatch covers.
② Oil-tight cargo oil tank hatch cover
Cargo tank hatches shall not be arranged in sheltered spaces. The hatch is small, but it should not be less than 600 mm × 600 mm. There are measuring holes and observation holes with a diameter of not less than 150 mm on the hatch. The hole should be provided with an effective closing device to ensure oil tightness.
Cargo tank hatch openings are usually round or oval. The long axis of the oval hatch shall be arranged along the length of the ship, and the opening shall be appropriately strengthened.
③ Hatch covers in non-watertight cargo holds and accommodation areas
The hatches on the lower deck in the cabin have no hatch coamings and the hatch covers are flush with the surrounding decks.
In recent years, marineusedgood has implemented a one-stop service from design, manufacture, installation, commissioning to delivery for large cargo hatches and their opening and closing devices (hydraulic folding, rollover, back-loading, side-shifting, etc.). Welcomed by customers, this not only guarantees the construction quality, but also solves the difficulties of long delivery cycle. Marineusedgood has provided more than 300 ships with one-stop services, including designing and manufacturing translational cargo hatches and hydraulic folding (4-page) cargo hatches for Hong Kong shipowners' 51000DWT bulk carriers and 12000DWT wood carriers Obtained inspections and approvals from RINA of Italy and NK of Japan, respectively. They also designed and manufactured hydraulic folding cargo hatches for French shipowners, and passed the inspection and approval of DNV of Norway. Designed and manufactured container cargo hatches (lifting type) for Vietnamese shipowners in 2010 and passed the inspection and approval of the German Classification Society (GL).
